The Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry is a candidate of biological sciences, assistant professor Volodymyr Vasyliovych Demchuk .

The Chemistry Faculty prepares specialists on 3 educative qualifying levels: “Bachelor”, “Specialist”, “Master’s Degree” on specialities “Chemistry”, “Chemistry and informatics”, “Ecology and environmental protection”.

Term of studies: bachelors – 4 years, specialists and master’s degree after the receiving of the bachelor’s diploma.

Preparation of specialists and master’s degree is conducted on speciality “Chemistry” (such specializations as – inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry and informatics, hydroecology, forest’s ecology and protected economy).

There is post-graduate courses on the department on specialities: inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, ecology and environmental protection.

Courses are conducted on full-time and past-time.

Acceptance on a full-time separation is carried after a state order (speciality “Chemistry” – 30 persons, speciality “Ecology and environmental protection – 10 persons and on terms by contract.

Winners of the IV stage of the all Ukrainian Olympiads of young chemists and winners of regional Olympiads on chemistry are set off on studies without examinations.

University entrants  which were awarded by gold and silver medals for the special successes in studying have the right to be accepted after the results of exam on chemistry.

There are all possibilities for the research student’s work. There is students’ scientific society on the faculty. The students’ scientific conferences are held and students take part in scientific conferences of young research workers in different cities of Ukraine. Scientific research works are conducted in different fields of organic, analytical, physical chemistry and ecology in such directions:

-         making methods of synthesis, the researching of the structure of semiconductor materials;

-         the selection and authentification of natural physiologically active compounds;

-         the investigation of physical and chemical and electro-physical properties of semiconductors;

-         the development of optical and electro-chemical sensors for the analysis of natural and synthetical  objects;

-         landscape-ecological analysis of city’s geosystem and monitoring of the environment.

The graduate students of chemical department work in scientific laboratories of experimental establishments at the chemical enterprises, teach chemistry and ecology in the higher and middle educational establishments, they continue to study  in graduate courses in Ukraine and many European countries. They are conducting ecological observation of all levels, ecological examination  of scientific and technical  projects, and kinds of activity.

Chairs: general and inorganic chemistry; analitycal chemistry; ecology and environmental protection; organic and biological chemistry; physical and colloid chemistry.
