Primary trade-union organization of students of Lesya Ukrayinka Volyn state university is a voluntarily unprofitable organization, which on a voluntary basis without any limitations unites persons who study at Lesya Ukrayinka Volyn state university (students, graduate students) and acknowledge The Statute of the trade union.

Representation, realization and defence of labour, socio-economic rights and interests of its members, is the purpose of the student trade union’s activity. Trade union:

• protects the right of its members to work and to study;
• negotiates, makes collective agreements, controls their implementation by administration of  the higher educational establishment;
• represents rights and interests of students in the relationships with authority of the higher educational establishment;
• for defence of rights and interests of its members organizes and conducts mass meetings, marches and demonstrations;
• organizes cultural-educational work among its members;
• organizes improving health conditions and rest of its members;
• informs its members about its activity and its results.

Becoming a student trade unionist you are obligated:

Student of state form of studies – monthly to deduct membership payment from the scholarship in size of 1% from it.

Student of paid form of studies – monthly to pay in the fund of trade union payment in size of 0,5% of minimal scholarship.

Also you are obligated to execute the statute of trade union, take part in its activity and to adhere to the terms of collective agreement.

Becoming a student trade unionist you will get:

• the right to take part in activity of trade union, to elect and be elected to its authorities;
• the right to receive favourable tours on sanatorium and resort treatment and rest at the expence of facilities of trade union;
• the right to receive material help and bonuses of trade union committee;
• the right to get assistance in employment;
• the right to receive competent information of the wide spectrum of questions, and also receive of effective help from trade union committee;
• the right to be active in his/her surroundings, to determine his/her student lifestyle on your own and to take part in the administrating the university.

Structure of student trade union:

Conference is the higher authority of student trade union.

The authority that can make the most important decisions which concern the student trade union between conferences is trade union committee of primary trade-union organization of students of Lesya Ukrayinka Volyn state university. Trade union committee consists of one representative from each department of the university and chairman of the trade union committee. It makes 17 persons.

General co-ordination of activity of student trade union, operative guidance and representative functions, is carried out by Chairman of trade union committee who is elected at a trade-union conference. Since April, 12, 2005 Michael Shelep is the chairman of primary student trade union organization of Lesya Ukrayinka Volyn state university.

The control over the activity of trade union is carried out by the Checkup committee members of which are selected from the members of trade union.

Professional bureaus of student trade union operate at each department. Each of them is headed by its chairman of professional bureau that carries out general co-ordination of activity of student trade union at a department.

In every group there is a representative of the trade union, professional group organizer which is elected at the meeting of members of professional group.
