The head of department of Olympic and professional sport is a candidate science, doz. Mudryk G.S.

In 1995 the department of track-and-field and winter kinds of sport was reorganized into the department of Olympic and professional sport, which was headed by Assistant Professor, master on (of) track-and-field - Moroz M.S.

Since 2006 the head of the department has been Professor Alexander Ivan Buzyun, the experience of work- 50 years, birthday -1937, graduated from the Kyiv state institute of physical culture in 1955,a teacher-trainer of (on) sports gymnastics.

The teaching staff of the department of Olympic and professional sport: Moroz Michael Stepanovich - assistant professor, master of sport of the USSR, champion "Spartac"; Karabanova Nadezhda Semenivna - candidate of pedagogical science, associate professor; Suvorova Tetyana Ivanivna - candidate of science on physical education and sport, associate professor; Dobrinskiy Volodymir Semenovich - candidate of science on physical education and sport, associate professor; Savchuk Svitlana Ivanivna - candidate of science on physical education and sport, associate professor; Malimon Olexander Olexandrovich - candidate of science on physical education and sport, associate professor; Mudrik Zhanna Stanislasvivna - candidate of science on physical education and sport, Master of sport of the USSR, silver Prizewinner    at the European Cup, champion of the USSR, Ukraine on track-and-field ail-round, participant at the junior world and European Championship, senior teacher;   Navrotskiy Edward Myckolaiovich -candidate of science on physical education and sport, associate professor, Klish Iryna Stepanivna - candidate of science on physical education and sport, associate professor; Bilera Mykola Oleksiovich - senior teacher,   master of sport of Ukraine, Champion of Ukraine, repeated winner of the Allukrainian competitions. Cherkashin Roman Eugenovich -assistant, master of sport of Ukraine, silver prizewinner of university games of Ukraine, silver prizewinner at the European Cup, finalist at the world cup for juniors in Australia, repeated winner of the international match meetings.

Such famous athletes grew (advanced) in sprint as Leonid Nosarchuk, champion of Yd sports and athletics meeting of UKRAINE in running on 200 meters, Ivan Martinov, a champion of UKRAINE in a relay running 4 *100, silver prizewinner of championship of the USSR among youths in running on 200 metres, Anatoiiy Bortnik, a champion of Ukraine in a relay running 4 *100, Peter Chikida, a prizewinner of sports and athletics meeting of institutes of higher education of Ukraine at running on 100 metres, Cyril Chuprinin, a participant of the Olympic games in Sidney, silver prizewinner championship for high jumps Alexander Kotovich, silver prizewinner at the European Cup for track-and-field all-round Zhanna Budilovska, silver prizewinner of the World Cup for biathlon Tetyana Vodop`yanova, silver prizewinner at the Olympic games in Nagano Helen, a competitor at the Olympic games in Lilikhameri - Valentine Jimma (biathlon).

The scientific work of the department is carried out in some directions: ,,Forming of the professional skills of a future trainer` ,,The improvement the pedagogical control system in educational-educational establishments of different levels of accreditation". The teachers of the department worked out (elaborated) the subject of the scientific work which contributed (promoted) the elaboration and publications of scientific, training and methodical works: Assistant Professor Suvorova T.I. ,,Control of sporting motions and their physiological grounds" is a training and methodical manual (in 2004), Professor Buzyun O.I. . methodical recommendations: Programmed studies in gymnastics" (in 2001) ,,Gymnastics. Exercises with the stuffed ball"; ,,Gymnastics generally developing exercises (of general developing) with objects" in 2002; assistant professor Dobrynskyi V.S.: Development of co-ordinating capabilities of children of school age" - methodical recommendations (20035.), Assistant professor Moroz M.S.,,The system of sports preparation of athletes: modern view" is a training and methodical manual (in 2005); Assistant professor Moroz M.S. in coauthorship with Dobrynskyi V.S. prepared an educational edition ,,The historical pages of the Institute of physical education and health" (2002).

The teachers of the department elaborated the electronic variants of courses of lectures on track-and-field, control works of test character for current and final control.

The plan of raise of teachers` qualification for 2004-2009 is worked out. The teachers conduct the opened lectures with their subsequent discussion, practical classes, carry out interattendance of lessons (attend each other`s classes) during the probation period. The bases of the probation period correspond the type of an educational establishment

The teachers of the department of Olympic and professional sport participate actively in the work of international, republican, institutes of higher education and inter-institute scientific conferences. The teachers under the direction of the head of the department Assistant Professor, Moroz M.S. took part in organization and conducting of H (2002) and III (2005) international scientific conferences "Physical education, sport and culture of health in modern society", which were held in Lutsk on the base of the Institute of physical education and health, and also in the international scientific conferences, which were conducted in Lviv, Winnitca, Zaporozhia, Kharkiv, Rivnomu. The results of the teachers` research work were given in the reports on these conferences and represented in publications. In 2005 the teachers of the department published 18 articles, 1 training and methodical elaboration and one train aid was given for printing. The department co-operates with the Lviv institute of physical education and the National university of physical education.

The scientific conference of teachers and students of the Institute of physical education and health is annually conducted, in which the teachers of the department and students take part.

For the purpose of improvement of work of the department scientific methodical seminars are systematically conducted after the following subject: Prognostication of harmoniousness of physical development of girls of 11-17 years; Conceptual positions of the differentiated approach to the process of physical education of schoolboys; The construction of training process of weight-lifters of high qualification in a competitive period; Professional sport in the Olympic movement; Evaluation of implementation of technique of track-and-field exercises; Basic aspects of Olympics (olympism) in forming of educational values of sportsmen of different qualification; An improvement of indexes of physical preparedness of children of junior school age due to the increase of volume of motive activity; Power preparation of skilled spear throwers; Peculiarities of training of hammer throwers on the initial stage of long-term preparation; Dynamics of students morbidity and state of health. A study of students` physical state and their readiness to loadings of different types of endurance.

While taking on of the teaching staff sports achievements (masters of sport of international class and sport masters) and scientific work are taken into account.

One of priority directions of work of the department is preparation of students of high sports qualification.
